Where vine stock and livestock thrive in harmony

In December 2008, Edwin said to André that he’d like to have a boutique South African vineyard. He found one in June 2010 – measuring 179 hectares. Very boutique! The farm, Far Horizons, is just off the R45 near Paarl on the Swartland border.

André and Edwin decided in July 2011 to develop Doran Vineyards as a premium wine estate.

The substantial building project (new cellar, offices, barrel hall, tasting room, workshops, etc.) was completed for the 2012 vintage.

The farm is home to Aberdeen Angus cattle, Ile de France sheep and Bushveldt hens, grysbokkies (they just love the young olive trees), steenbok, duikers, caracals and bak-oor jackal a.k.a. bat-eared fox (Otocyn megalotis).

The dam has carp fish and a huge collection of birds, ducks and geese.

Birds include fish eagle, Egyptian geese, wild ducks, pelicans, blue crane, rock pigeons, Cape weavers and hadedas.
